Utopia, released in 2000 by Mehul Patel and Jolt Online, defined the browser kingdom-builder. At its peak it ran 100,000 concurrent players; today, perhaps 1,500. The shape it cut — provinces, ages, three-month resets, a magic book, a thievery book — still has no equal.

Aetheria is a respectful, unaffiliated descendant. The original formulas published in The Utopian Encyclopedia were our starting point; we have filled the gaps, modernized the interface, and rebuilt the systems for asynchronous play and mobile screens.

We do not claim the trademark, the assets, or the community of Utopia. We claim only the lineage of its design.
